SWJSC announced Protest against Anti-labour Policy on November 25

GUWAHATI: Accusing the BJP government for anti-labour policy and with their demands to modernize and revive the industries, the Save Industries Save Workers Joint Struggle Committee (SWJSC) has announced protest to be staged on November 25.
Addressing a press conference at Guwahati Press Club on Wednesday, the Committee stated that the protest will be staged with their demands to ensure the life security of the workers and to revive the Nagaon and Cachar Paper Mill, Numaligarh Refinery, Assam state Electricity Board and NEEPCO, The Assam Co-operative Jute Mills, Assam Polyester Cooperative Society Ltd, Assam Tea Board, and many other industries. SWJSC further added that they will also extend their support to the strike called by BPCL and HPCL workers union against the privatization.
SWJSC claimed, “The BJP government came into power in the state and central level by promising of industrial development and to create more employment. But their policies came out to be anti-labour and anti-industry. Hence Assam is now turning out to be an industrial cemetery.”
Pankaj Kumar Das AICCTU Assam state Committee General Secretary said, “The policies taken by the State and central government in case of public sector industries like Nagaon and Cachar Paper Mill, selling Numaligarh refinery into the hands of private companies and closing down of Apollo Industry, says that there is no other option available for the workers rather than being together and to create protest against such policies. We’re organizing a state convention at Chandmari on December 1and through this convention we’ll announce our next steps to protest against the anti-labour and anti-workers policy. We would like to mention that we will extend full support to the protest to be taken up by BPCL and HPCL workers union against privatization.”
