GUWAHATI: In the wake of the soaring price of essential commodities, the Kamrup Metro district administration has constituted a task force to monitor prices of essential commodities in themajor markets across the city. The prices of essential items such as potatoes, onions, fish, meat and vegetables have soared over the past few months causing considerable hardship to the people who were already reeling under the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The district administration has formed four teams under the leadership of circle officer/assistant commissioner to monitor the prices. The team of officials will personally visit the markets and submit their reports to the deputy commissioner.

The team headed by Lakhyajit Duwara, circle officer of Guwahati revenue circle cum executive magistrate will cover Machkhowa wholesale market, Fancy Bazar, GMC wholesale vegetable market, Bhangagarh market, Ulubari market and Uzanbazar market.

The team led by Jintu Bora, circle officer of Chandrapur revenue circle will monitor the Six Mile market, Beltola market, Bhetapara market, Basistha market, Dispur Supermarket besides Narengi, Panjabari and Barbari markets.

Bhaskar Jyoti Kalita, assistant commissioner will lead the team covering Gosala, Pandu Borabazar, Pandu Railway Bazar, Jalukbari, Ramcharani VIP, Azara and Fatasil markets The fourth team led by Chinmoy Neog, circle officer (A), Dispur revenue circle will cover the Brahmaputra wholesale vegetable market, Beharbari/Pamohi wholesale vegetable market, Kalapahar market, Lalganesh market, Bamunimaidam market and Chandmari market.
