GUWAHATI: Three students from city-based academic institutions, including two from Cotton University (CU), have made it to the merit list of the Higher Secondary Final examination conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC), the results of which were declared on Monday. However, institutions of the Kamrup (M) district were overall overshadowed by their counterparts in other parts of the State.

Deepak Lodha of the KC Das Commerce College here secured the sixth position in the Commerce stream. Deepak, whose subjects were English, Alt English, Accountancy, BUST, BMST and Economics, scored 468 marks out of 500.

Abhinanda Hazarika of the Cotton University secured the eighth position in the Arts stream. Abhinanda scored 475 marks out of 500. Her subjects were English, Alt English, Economics, Statistics, Political Science and Mathematics.

On the other hand, Bedanata Sarma, also of the Cotton University, secured the 10th position in the Science stream. Bedanta scored 474 marks out of 500. His subjects were English, MASS, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.

The pass percentage in Kamrup (M) in the Arts stream was 81.52, in the Science stream it was 92.62 and in the Commerce stream it was 89.31. Six students from the city secured highest marks in various subjects. Ankita Sarma Bordoloi of the Cotton University secured full marks in Logical Philosophy; Priyanka Mondal of the B Borooah College secured 99 marks in Political Science; Sagarika Kalita of the TC Government Girls' HS & MP School secured full marks in Retail Trade; Dikshita Das of Prachya Bharati Senior Secondary High School secured 97 marks in Anthropology; Abhinanda Hazarika of the Cotton University secured full marks in Statistics; and Deepak Lodha of KC Das Commerce College secured 99 marks in Accountancy.

Meanwhile, the North East College for Hearing Impaired at Gopinath Nagar here has put up an inspiring show by registering a 100 per cent pass percentage.

All sixteen candidates from the college – ten boys and six girls - passed the examination, with Abhijit Tasa of the institute securing 75.8 per cent marks. He was followed by Hridoy Jyoti Das and Satish Thakur, who secured 67.8 per cent and 66.4 per cent.

In all, nine students of the college secured First Division marks and seven students secured Second Division marks.
