GUWAHATI: State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass has said that right now the party has been busy on organizational matters, not on giving party tickets to aspirants.
Talking to the media, Dass said, "Our thrust is on organizational matters. There has been no discussion on party tickets for the forthcoming Assembly election. If anybody seeks tickets for the Assembly election before January next, it's certain that he/she won't get party ticket.
"We're doing our organizational works. The newly formed committee of the State will have its first executive committee meeting on September 4, 2020. And right from September 5, 2020 we'll go to the booths where our 3.20 lakh page in-charges (pristha promukh) will be working in the field. Each page in-charge is in the charge of 60 voters. This apart we've 42 lakh party members in the State. Even if one member persuades a voter we can get 84 lakh votes. In the last Lok Sabha election we got 63 lakh votes and won ten seats. The State has around two crore voters and if 1.50 crore of them cast their votes (75 per cent), we can get 100+ seats with 84 lakh votes. Our public relation drive (jana samparka abhiyan) to contract 50 lakh families is also underway."
Dass further said, "The Congress-AIUDF alliance will only benefit us. The voters belonging to religious minorities are conscientious people. They're not ones who could be bought. They know it well as to what Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal governments have done for the people. We'll get votes from the minorities in an unexpected way."
