GUWAHATI: Ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 matches to be played at the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Stadium in Barsapara, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) of Guwahati has announced a comprehensive traffic management plan.
The matches are to be held on March 26 and 30, and the city is prepared to face the rush of cricket fans, which requires stringent traffic rules in place.
In order to ease congestion and provide safety to the visitors, the police have declared a prohibition on commercial goods carriers and slow-moving vehicles on main roads, such as G.S. Road, B.K. Kakati Road, A.K. Azad Road and Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Path. The ban will be in effect from 2 PM to midnight on both matchdays to facilitate the free flow of emergency vehicles and essential services.
In addition to the vehicle restrictions, significant traffic adjustments will be implemented. A.K. Azad Road will be designated as a one-way route from Lalganeh Tiniali to Cycle Factory Tiniali starting at 3 PM. Likewise, Kula Basumatary Road, or Barsapara Road, will be a one-way stretch from Barsapara Tiniali to Dhirenpara Tiniali for the same period of time.
All these steps are aimed at reducing bottlenecks around the stadium and improving the overall experience of cricket enthusiasts visiting the stadium.
