United Workmen Union Protest At Guwahati Refinery in Noonmati

GUWAHATI: The United Workmen Union, Guwahati Refinery, IOC, Limited staged a protest demonstration in front of Guwahati Refinery in Noonmati on Thursday.

The Union demanded that the Nagaon and Cachar paper mills are reopened without any delay. They also protested that privatization of profitable PSUs (public sector undertaking) such as BPCL, NRL, NEEPCO will not be accepted.

The Refinery had lately been appointing construction workers from outside the State, as such, the Union called for an immediate cease of such activities and appoint workers from the State instead. The final demand of the Union was re-hire of employees previously relieved from duty.
