GUWAHATI: Several medical conditions, including cough, fever, sore throat, redness, and scratchy eyes, are on the rise in the city and across the state as a whole. These are some of the symptoms of Japanese Encephalitis, malaria, dengue, and conjunctivitis. As per the data published by the health department, the state has seen a total of 408 cases of Japanese Encephalitis from January 1 to August 17, out of which 23 have died. Out of a total of 3300 cases of dengue, three have died, and there have been 276 cases of malaria without any fatalities.

As of Thursday, a total of four active cases were reported in the state, with two in Nagaon and one each in Goalpara and Jorhat. There are 77 active cases of dengue, with 72 in Karbi Anglong East, two in Nalbari, and one each in Dhubri, Goalpara, and Sonitpur. Medical experts have mentioned that most infections are not very severe in nature but have advised the public to practise caution during the season, including the use of mosquito nets and regular hand cleaning. It has also been advised to seek medical attention as and when any problem is encountered to avoid any complications.

Medical experts also advised the public not to purchase medicines over the counter without proper prescriptions, as this too causes complications at the time of treatment. They also encouraged people to eat healthy and nutrient-rich diets to boost immunity and avoid minor infections.
