GUWAHATI: The Non Bodo Suraksha Samiti, Assam (NBSSA) has stated that it is contesting in three constituencies of the BTR (Bodoland Territorial Region) to safeguard the rights of the non-Bodos.

The following candidates are contesting in the polls from the NBSSA — Abdul Samat Choudhury from Gossaigaon, Jyotish Das from Chapaguri, and Dimbeshwar Rabha from Tamulpur.

Addressing a press meet here on Saturday, NBSSA advisor Brojen Mahanta slammed the GSP (Gana Suraksha Party) for secretly forging alliance with the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), and UPPL (United People's Party Liberal) in the BTR.

"The UPPL-led BTR administration has issued a notice that it will evict the non Bodos from the region. However, the eviction process is on hold due to the High Court's direction and also the election. Thus, we are contesting in these constituencies to safeguard the non-Bodos. We appeal to the people of the BTR not to cast their ballot for the BJP," Mahanta added. The NBSSA urged the people to only vote for the parties who can form a democratic government and safeguard the rights of the non-Bodos.
