Will Raise Assam Issues In Rajya Sabha, Says MP Birendra Prasad Baishya

GUWAHATI: Newly elected Rajya Sabha MP Birendra Prasad Baishya has said that he will raise Assam issues in the Rajya Sabha firmly and boldly.

Baishya said this while he was being felicitated by the AGP at its party head office at Ambari in Guwahati on Saturday.

Baishya said that he will abide by party policy and ideology, besides working for it. He also sought permission from party president Atul Bora to open an AGP office in New Delhi.

He was felicitated with a floral wreath and a citation, besides a jaapi.

Top leaders of the party, including president Atul Bora, working president Keshab Mahanta and minister Phani Bhushan Choudhury, were present at the felicitation function.

Felicitating Baishya, AGP president Atul Bora said: “The AGP will perform its responsibility towards the people of Assam through Rajya Sabha MP Birendra Prasad Baishya.”

Meanwhile, the AGP offered an iftar party at Burha Jama Masjid at Ambari in the city. Present at the party were Keshab Mahanta, Birendra Prasad Baishya, former deputy speaker Nurul Islam and others.
