Woman jumps from ferry in Brahmaputra river

GUWAHATI: A young woman apparently attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the Brahmaputra river while travelling on a ferry connecting the north and south banks of the river on Monday. Other passengers who were aboard the same vessel mentioned that the woman was on the ferry and suddenly jumped overboard. The passengers who saw the woman jump raised a hue and cry after the incident, and the crew member jumped into the water to rescue her. He was able to rescue the woman and bring her to the bank with the help of another boat. The family members of the woman arrived at the scene after the incident and took her home. As far as it was revealed, the woman is a resident of North Guwahati.
