Youth fall from building, dies

GUWAHATI: While trying to flee after hearing police siren, a youth, DipakRabha (47), fell from a two-storey building at Hatigaon on Wednesday night. He succumbed to his injuries in a private hospital on Thursday, police sources said.

According to the police, after the seizure of three coal-laden trucks in front of his coal depot at Beharbari, Dipak has been staying in the two-storey building of his friend Kuljinder Singh at Aloknagar under Hatigaon police station. It so happened on Wednesday night that a team of police was on patrol duty in the area, and when the siren of the police vehicle sounded Dipak presumed that the police personnel were on his trail. "While fleeing he fell from the two-storey building," the police said. Hailing from Dudhnoi in Goalpara district, Dipak was staying at Bongaon under Basistha police station.
