GUWAHATI: Zubair Anam Mazumdar was elected as the new president of the Assam Pradesh Youth Congress. He managed to secure over 62,000 votes while Paritosh Roy with 54,113 votes came second. David Phukan with 18,696 votes was the third contender for the position. Zubair was earlier holding the position of State general secretary of the Assam Pradesh Youth Congress.

Zubair Anam Mazumder was born in Silchar and completed in schooling from Don Bosco School in Guwahati. After doing his higher secondary from RJ College, he attained a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Guwahati College of Architecture. Seen to be very vocal in the political arena, he made his way from being a member of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) to the general secretary, vice president, State general secretary to now the president of the Assam Pradesh Youth Congress.
