A commendable job by school teachers

I am very thankful to you for publishing the news of hoisting of tiol flags by some primary school teachers belonged to religious minorities in Morigaon during the celebration of 71st Independence Day despite heavy flood in the State.  Flood has heavily affected the State this year. It is heartening to see that despite flood wreaked havoc, they came out to show their allegiance to the tion. However, there is one pertinent question—what the State has done for these schoolteachers? Has the administration recognized their efforts or not. On September 5th, 2017, when many schoolteachers were felicitated either by district administration or by the State Government, no one remembered these schoolteachers. No report of such felicitation has been reported till now.

In such situation, question arises- what are the criteria of selecting best teachers? We need to think on this; otherwise, our homage to Swarvalli Radhakrishn will remain pointless. Further,  when the issue of settling down the Hindu Bengaldeshis in the State becoming a major political agenda, in such situation showing such patriotism by these schoolteachers towards the tion can be considered a major milestone to unity among different communities of Assam.

However, this incidence of hoisting flag by these school teachers belonging to minority community has been ignored by a section of media. Furthermore, the sad thing is that many considered that this news was focused because they belong to religious minority community, which we need to critically think again.
