A stitch in time saves nine

This is a common place experience that our government undertakes any development works just before the onset of monsoon. During previous Congress rule number of actual development worth the name was few and far between. The present government, however did some good development works. But that is not enough to absolve the present ruling dispensation of the ignominy of incomplete construction works. For instance, the repairing works of all the vulnerable embankments could not be completed on time. Incidentally, the present government already completes its 4 years in Dispur of the five-year term. Much has been expected from the government. Another glaring instance we like to point out to the erosion by the Brahmaputra at Mohanaghat, Dibrugarh. Here too lack of anticipation of the department concerned is all pervasive. The department knows it fully well that the area where erosion takes place is a vulnerable one. Preventive measures, as such should have been taken much earlier.
