A year of twist & turns

India conducted key State elections with outcomes that may provide pointers to the political direction the country takes, while the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) became a watershed moment in the tion’s economic history. 

For the citizen, it is difficult to take stock of the significant changes in an era of fast-paced digital information, often degenerating into noise amplified by social media. 

Information gained, therefore is now an even more valuable resource.

The year 2017 unfolded even as the country was coming to grips with the effects of demonetization. In the months that followed, there were many defining movements: major State elections, a transition to GST, the most ambitions tax reform measure so far, and challenges on the diplomatic and security fronts. 

Equally, expectations of a healthier economy and investments in modern infrastructure grew. The ruling BJP sought to consolidate its position tiolly, while the Congress-led Opposition and the regiol parties vowed to expand their influence. What will New Year 2018 bring forth? Let us be positive and hope for the best!
