Agriculture department

The Agricultural department of our State is plagued by rampant corruption. First, the department was under severe criticism for alleged malpractice in distribution of aid to poor farmers during the pandemic. Then there were anomalies in distribution of pumps meant for farmers. The AEE (Agriculture Executive Engineer) of Gauripur agriculture subdivision allegedly sold some pumps to people who are not farmers. When the matter came into light, the Divisional executive engineer of the department filed an FIR in Gauripur police station on June 9, 2020. The Director of the department writing a letter to Dhubri SP not to take tough action against the AEE now is quite surprising. There is room to think that the AEE has the blessings of some higher-ups in the department. The present government, while taking oath declared that there will be zero tolerance to corruption. However, the functioning of two or three departments is not at all clean. The police should be allowed to work independently and no external force should work to stop them in carrying out their duty.
