An appeal to Axam Xahitya Xabha

Long back the names of certain roads of Dibrugarh had been renamed after some great sons of Assam who glorified the State’s culture and literature, contributed in ample measure to the growth of Assam politically. One such road was the Station Road which was renamed as Rajani Kanta Bordoloi (RKB) Road after the name of the Assamese novelist who was pioneer in writing novel in the Assamese literature. While all the business establishments situated in other roads use the names of the roads properly in their correspondences, in their bags/envelopes, some of such business houses in the RKB Road are either allergie or refuse to accept the name RKB and prefer the name Station Road. Incidentally, the Station Road stretches from Mazhar Police Point to the Thana Chariali Police Point passing along the Dibrugarh Raliway Station. Now we find it difficult to approach any organization which could ask these establishments to correct the name of the road to make them learn how to respect a great novelist of Assam. We appeal to the Axam Xahitya Xabha, Dibrugarh to take appropriate steps.
