Apology Spree

A am Aadmi leader and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is on an apology-making spree, after riding rough shod over the reputations of many. The upshot had been as many as 33 defamation cases slapped against Kejriwal by political leaders hailing across the ideological spectrum. Kejriwal has already apologized to Shiromani Akali Dal’s Bikram Singh Majithia, BJP leader and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Congress party’s Kapil Sibal. He is expected to reach out to Union Fince Minister Arun Jaitley and 29 others soon so as to negotiate out of court settlements. The Supreme Court has been firm that wilful damage to reputation will not be tolerated, and that both crimil prosecution and civil suit will continue to be available against defamation. With AAP no longer in a position to fund Kejriwal’s costly court battles, he has no option but to eat humble crow now.
