BSS president Kamalkanta Mushahary in a statement said, “We have called upon the Government to give a check to the growing anti–Bodo medium activities of the Education department. The BSS has strongly demanded to stop transferring the teachers of Bodo medium schools to Assamese medium and appointing Assamese medium teachers in the vacant posts of Bodo medium schools in the me of ratiolization.” The BSS president said that the literary body has submitted a memorandum on March 27 last to State Education Minister Sarat Borkotoky demanding to scrap this order immediately.  He said that in Sonitpur district, the DEEO as per the ratiolization rule, has issued an order on March 25 last to the teachers , who have not joined the , to join immediately. “This will destroy the Bodo medium schools,” he said.  The latest development is that many schools now don’t have a single teacher as after the retirement of many teachers, new teachers have not been recruited. It may be mentioned here that many Boro-medium schools were single-teacher schools and the non-recruitment of new teachers have left the students high and dry.  Another Office bearer of the BSS said that many of the Bodo medium schools in Sonitpur district have been closed down already due to the non-appointment of sufficient teachers.
