Citizenship Amendment Bill

foreign policy

The Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) is going to be introduced in the Parliament soon despite vehement opposition to it by the people of Assam and other north-eastern states. The people of this region do not accept this Bill. Assam has not been created on religious lines. The Hindus and the Muslims have been living together here through ages in an atmosphere of amity. I do not understand as to why the Central government wants to bring the Bill creating an atmosphere of chaos and violence, besides escalating the law-and-order situation in the State and the region. Let the people of this region remain in peace as they always are.

I would like to request the Government of India being led by a dynamic person, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to introduce the Bill excluding Assam and other states of the Northeast from its ambit.

Putul Sarma,

Biswanath Chariali.
