The cleaning of garbage disposal and drains of Guwahati is a serious problem. The improper system of cleaning the garbage disposal and the drains creates a lot of inconvenience for the people of the city. I have noticed, while cleaning the drains, they pick up sewage from drains and keep them by the side of the roads and this process continues until the drain gets completely cleaned up. But the greatest irony is that in the process of cleaning the drains the roads gets dirtier.

After cleaning the drains they keep the muck by the side of the roads for weeks, which again gets wash away and falls in the same drain after a few days. So this kind of cleaning is absolutely unfruitful and unhealthy as it eventually pollutes the atmosphere. It is advisable to load the sewage in a carrier or truck so that it can be dispose of immediately.

Moreover, I have also found that the municipality always carries the garbage in a truck from which, most of the time, garbage fall on the road, emitting foul odor. So, I suggest that they should carry the garbage in a closed vehicle so that neither the roads will get polluted nor the common people will face any problem.

Another matter on which I would like the attention of the authority concerned is that the garbage trucks come in the afternoon to clean the city. It should come early in the morning to clean the city so that the trucks don’t create any inconvenience to the citizens.
