The letter written by Chandra Kumar Nath "Crisis in Congress party" and appeared in your daily on July 23 exposes the internal crisis in the party. Just after the defeat in the last Lok Sabha elections the then president of the party Rahul Gandhi resigned from the post of party president owing the responsibility of the humiliating defeat of the party. The party made Sonia Gandhi as the interim president till a permanent president is elected. However, the process of election of the new president never happened. Senior leaders want Sonia Gandhi to continue as the party chief for their vested interests. The conflict between the old and young leaders is quite distinct in Madya Pradesh and Rajasthan where two talented young leaders quit the party. Jyotiraditya Scindia's quitting the party and joining the BJP led to the fall of Kamal Nath's Government. When there was conflict between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot the high command set quietly till the last moment, resulting in Pilot's deserting the party along with 19 party MLAs. Young talented leaders are being sidelined now. Of late, Haryana Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi openly said that there is a sense of despair among the party workers over the treatment meted out to two young leaders by the old guards. Kuldeep Bishnoi is the son of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal. He has tweeted that he is not going to quit the party. The Congress party must come out from its inner circle of the Gandhi family for its survival and there must be a good relation between the young turks and the old guard and work in coordination for the survival of the old party which has lots of contribution to the country, including freeing the country from the British rule.
