One hacker claimed as Khanbaris hacked the website of Gauhati University. The prestigious university of North East India faced this for the second time on July 3. This time he raised the issue of admission fees. It may be mentioned here that the same hacker hacked the website on December 1. On November 29, Gauhati University had to cancel the degree exams of the 3rd semester after the wrong question paper incident. When the official website got hacked there is a message of 'Leaked Question Paper' which directs to a porn website. This is a very shameful incident for a prestigious educational institute.

I don't have any comments on the ethical hacking by the hackers. But the main issue is the cyber security of the students. In the time when the Government of India has banned 59 apps for the security of the country in that very time website of prestigious university hacked for the 2nd time by the same hacker within a year. In 2015, one class 12 student claimed that he can hack the University website very easily by using android mobile. There is a lot of information about students available with the University. So, what happens if someone misused the data? Already the hacker threatened that he will expose the data of University official.

I noticed many students are making fun of this incident. I think they are not aware and concerned about the cyber security also the safety of their data. I appeal to the authority of the University to take care of the website very carefully and I appealed to the Assam Police to take action very strictly.

Parashar Kalita,
