Demand for CBI probe into selling of expired products

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, August 22: The Citizen Right Protection Forum, Assam (CRPFA) has demanded CBI inquiry into the business of expired products. CRPFA president Abul Hussain said in a press conference in Dispur Press Club today: "After the arrest of one Ranjit Kumar Rajani for repackaging expired products, the go-down owner from where this business was run, Loon Karan Jain or Loonia, tried to destroy other expired products by carrying them in a truck (AS01-EC-6474) to the Beki river. However, some local people collected those products, consumed them and fell ill. They had to be admitted to Barpeta Fakaruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College. When we went to file a case, the police officials also did not cooperate with us. After many attempts, we filed the case (467/15) on July 31, but till date no action has been taken against the culprits. We also heard that the Congress is also involved in the scam, and is now collecting money from this person through the police. We, therefore, demand a CBI inquiry into the incident.”
