Exorbitant exam fees: CBSE action required

Many schools are operating in Assam, and especially in Guwahati, which has affiliation to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and these schools are charging unregulated and hefty money from parents and guardians of the pupils of these schools. The fees for tuition, etc do not fall under the purview of the local administration and the State Government. In the guise of education, many such schools are taking advantage of the lack of supervision from the CBSE’s side. The CBSE conducts the board examinations for Classes X, and XII. However, hefty fees for Board Examination are being charged, ranging from Rs. 8000 to Rs. 50,000 or more, though, officially, the CBSE charges about Rs. 1,500 per student. We urge the Regional Office of CBSE at Guwahati to reign in such schools of their nefarious designs, which is not good for the society and growth of educational environment.
