Extortiote Bus Fares

Extortiote Bus Fares

Extortiote bus fares

When the clock strikes 9 pm, the bus service in Guwahati gets scarce. As a result, the bus fare is hiked by the conductors. Many quarrels break out. The bus fare from Six Mile to Paltan Bazar is Rs 8 but after 9 pm it is hiked by Rs 2. It is still pardoble; but some buses ask for Rs 10 from Six Mile to Ganeshguri, which is absolutely ucceptable.

The bus drivers and conductors get into scuffles with passengers and threaten not to drive the bus. At night there is a scarcity of buses; so, irate passengers don’t prolong their protest. Most passengers sit quietly and wait for their destition to arrive. To take advantage of helplessness of bus passengers, particularly the females, and adopt such extortiote practices is condemble. The Transport authority running night buses in Guwahati should conduct surprise checks to control such behaviour.
