Forged Documents for NRC

Recently there have been statements to the effect that the updating of the NRC had been so delayed that it was likely to be completed only in October this year. One of the reasons for this delay is the huge number of forged documents being filed for people from Bangladesh in order to get their mes included in the NRC. Apparently, there have been about 20,000 such forged documents that have stymied the process of updating the NRC. The question that arises is: where did the illegal migrants from Bangladesh, many of them illiterate souls, know what forged documents to furnish in order to make their bid for Indian citizenship or at least inclusion of their mes in the NRC? Obviously, there were officials in India who were happy to oblige. They were the ones who did everything possible to get illegal migrants from Bangladesh to submit forged documents for inclusion of their mes in the updated NRC in the hope of being acknowledged as Indian citizens. What should not be  overlooked is that there was no dearth of our own officers who secured these forged documents in order to help illegal migrants from Bangladesh to get their mes included in the updated NRC. The perpetrators of this mischief are ‘patriotic’ officers of Assam.
