Government needs to act to check misuse of domestic LPG cylinders

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to express my concern over the misuse of domestic cylinders. Many commercial establishments across the city are seen using domestic cylinders openly for commercial purpose, which is prohibited under Section 7 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.

Increase in the price of LPG cylinders as well as supply shortage have posed as a major issue of concern for the common public. It is really surprising how domestic cylinders are being used for commercial purposes.

On one hand, the government has undertaken schemes for providing free LPG connections to BPL families, while on the other hand, such malpractice is openly happening in the country under the very nose of the government and district administration.

Why is the local media not highlighting such issues?

I would like to request the administration and the government to take this matter seriously.

Samar Deb,

Guwahati.
