Grocery shops defying price list

Even though relaxation has been imposed, taking advantage of the nationwide lockdown called in wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, a large number of grocery shops in Rangia town and its adjoining areas are violating the rules and regulations fixed by the State government regarding prices of essential commodities. A large number of grocery shops continue to create confusion among the local people regarding actual prices of essential commodities, mainly of dal, potato, mustard oil and refined oil. Same quality moong dal is being sold at prices ranging from Rs. 110 to Rs. 140 a kilo. While some shops are selling mustard oil at 10-20% less than the MRP, some others are selling them at MRP. Meanwhile, vegetable vendors are selling local products, comparatively at cheaper rates. Dairy products like milk and paneer are also being sold at proper prices. I appeal to the authorities concerned to treat the matter as urgent and ensure zero violation of the price list approved by the administration.
