‘Inflammatory’ speech

Published on

Through the column of your esteemed daily I would like to draw everyone’s attention to the inflammatory speech made by Anurag Thakur in a recent BJP campaign.

Anurag Thakur, the Minister of State for Finance, BJP was witnessed raising a slogan - ‘Desh ke gaddaro ko goli maro’ which has sparked up a national uproar. Was the choice of words appropriate for a Union minister? Didn’t the speech ignite the already existing fire?

Since in recent times a few cases of open firing at crowds protesting against the CAA have been reported. Didn’t the speech play its role in instigating the supporters? Why is the BJP not taking any action against their minister? How are the supporters getting hold of guns? Who is providing them guns? And why is not the government taking any strict action for the security of the indigenous people of this country?

I would like to request the authorities concerned to take action on this burning issue as it has already flared the fire amongst the citizens of this nation.

Susmita Baruah,

Guwahati.
