Untimely IPL

With the second wave of COVID-19 spreading in the whole of India now, the holding of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is unjustified. Even though the IPL matches will be without spectators, yet there will be an assembly of players, coaches and the members of the organizing committee in the venue. In such a situation, none can follow the social distancing norm. The safety of human life is more important than entertainment.

No reason to cheer

We should not feel happy that the order to cut interest on small savings has been withdrawn. It seems to have been postponed to the next quarter or thereafter. It has been withheld only due to the ongoing elections. Now it is proved that this government doesn't care about the middle class or senior citizens.

Watchdog or lapdog?

In democracy when its fourth pillar, media, gets biased with its views and opinions, we should know that it is the end of true journalism. Most of the national news channels are infamous as unreliable source of information. The common people are being deprived of unbiased information and opinions because, it seems, some handful are influencing and regulating the national news media industry.

The public should not be dependent solely on one medium of media for news and information. Every individual should cross-check doubtful information they come across through various other sources (web search, newspapers). So far, compared to other media, newspapers are the most reliable source of information, in my view.

Samajwadi Party's Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan has joined the TMC bandwagon in West Bengal. In her first salvo against the Central government she has compared Mamata Banerjee with Rani Laxmibai. Jaya Bachchan, who always buys the safe MP seat from the Samajwadi Party, is again stooping low. The former actress-turned politician landed in controversy after questioning the integrity of North Indian people towards Mumbai. She didn't utter any word when Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput died mysteriously in his apartment. In fact, she supported the drug warlords of Mumbai. The whole Bachchan family is very mysterious unlike the Kapoors and the Dutts.

PM's advice

The Prime Minster advises HS and HSLC students before their examinations every year. It is welcome and laudable. The Prime Minister advised the examinees not to care, fear or feel nervous during the examination.
