Salman's Jail Term

Bollywood actor Salman Khan, convicted by a Jodhpur court in a two-decade-old blackbuck poaching case, was sentenced to five years in prison on April 4. It shows that the law is equal to all, whoever he might be; that is, the rule of law prevails. Of course, Salman got bail, and was released from jail on April 7. Still, the case will continue.

I would, therefore, like to request the film fraternity not to comment against the verdict, regardless of the investment made on the coming film industry with the actor. I would also like to request the judiciary to give appropriate judgement in punishing the culprit without delay so that "justice delayed is justice denied" not happens as Salman is a big offender. I also request the investigating agency as well as public prosecutor not to show any leniency and laxity in the case.

Great Show

The performance of the Indian contingent in the just concluded Commonwealth Games held at Gold Coast in Australia was simply superb. It is the best performance of the Indian squad in the Commonwealth Games held overseas. The performance in some sports like boxing, badminton, wrestling, table tennis and shooting was very dominant. It thus has proved that Indian sports is in the safe hands of Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who himself was a champion shooter and an Athens Olympic silver medalist. Unlike his predecessor Suresh Kalmadi who only bought wealth to his personal locker, the current minister is man on a mission to improve the performance of sportspersons in the world stage.
