2G spectrum case

The NDA government and the Opposition must learn to work with one another. They need to realize that they are mere opponents, not enemies. Electoral battles must not cross the line of decency and civilized behavior. Parties must exhibit greater sense of responsibility while making promises during elections.

Now that 2G spectrum case over which Parliament was disrupted for three years is practically over, the Opposition might rethink its strategy of dealing with controversies like lynchings over transportation of beef. The ruling party, at the same time, must work out a viable relationship with the Opposition and both sides can rein in too much of rhetoric against each other. That is, perhaps, one lesson we need to learn from the 2G spectrum verdict

Glaring similarities

Filly after a long wait, the election of the prestigious Asom Sahitya Sabha was conducted and results were duly released. The whole of the electoral process was supervised by noted legal practitioner Bijan Mahajan. The result was some sort of surprise as unfancied and controversial Poroma Rajbonshi was elected as president of the Asom Sahitya Sabha for the current year, upsetting stalwarts like Homen Borgohain, Harekrish Deka, Dr. Amarjyoti Choudhury, to me a few. The election of Poroma Rajbonshi reminds one of the elections which were previously held in Assam Cricket Association (ACA) where in spite of many deserving candidates in the race, a nonentity med Bikash Barua got regularly elected. It should be a matter of thought for right thinking people in the State and more particularly people associated with the world of literature that how come people with so many controversies to their me get democratically elected to such an august body. Indeed the glaring similarities between the former ACA body and current AXX body are too hard to miss.
