SI scam investigation

The investigation in the SI recruitment scam is going on the right track with utmost sincerity. The looters of the public exchequer across the State stretching from Sadiya to Dhubri are being systematically nabbed one by one cutting across political party affiliation, social or official status. However, some print and electronic media and also Opposition Congress are jumping over the gun. The investigation agencies deserve kudos and it is my fervent appeal to those to restrain a bit as constant criticism demoralized the investigation bodies. The memories of APSC scam kingpin Rakesh Paul are still fresh in our mind. As they say 'Once bitten twice shy'.

Rail link in Assam

The rail communication is convenient, economical and comfortable. Therefore, this mode of transportation is popular in all the developed countries with the day-to-day modern innovations.

However, the pathetic sight is that rail connectivity in Assam and the NE region is neglected since the independence. Through your esteemed paper I may be allowed to request the authority to construct a new BG electric rail track from Nagaon Railway Station to Jorhat Railway Station via Jakhalabandha. Construct a new rail-cum-road overbridge near the Kaziranga National Park, if possible. It will reduce the travelling distance between Guwahati and Upper Assam with the increased connectivity to the new places of Assam. It will also decrease the load factor of the existing national highway. The use of the electric loco engines, perhaps will not harm the ecological environment of Kaziranga. It is said that connectivity is the major infrastructure in the development of industrialization. As per report the present government is initiating major renovations in this sector in this region, which is appreciating and welcome. Perhaps the authority may add this proposal too.

COVID rumour

"Love and charity for the whole human race, that is the test of true religiousness". Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to shed some light on the topic of breaking the existing rumour, keeping in mind the above quote by Swami Vivekananda.

The fearless wore masks, screeching tyres came to a hush. But sadly, the ones found COVID-19 positive seemed to be isolated by neighbours even after their recovery. The rumour that one becomes a forever carrier of the virus after being infected is factually wrong. Also, the WHO confirmed that there is no such case of COVID-19 transmission through food. And hence, we must avoid being victims to these rumours. The lockdown had tought us moral values and also the importance of family. So in an optimistic sense, I hope everyone will consider the facts and will together build a better world and a better place with love to live in.

Jahnab Pran Kashyap,

Guwahati.
