Unprecedented coverage

The long-awaited Annual General Conference of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) which was already very much delayed due to some vested interests have finally concluded in the OIL town of Duliajan. In the session some important decisions were taken especially in regards to the age limit criteria of the office bearers, which was again long overdue. On so many past occasions we have witnessed some over-aged AASU activists indulging in activities like road blockade, vandalizing public properties (for example in last anti-CAA agitation), etc. We strongly expect that the new office-bearers of the auspicious AASU will not compromise with the real objectives of the body. Lastly, I was amazed to see the unprecedented massive media coverage and publicity of the conference. Best of luck to the newly elected general secretary and hopefully he will lead the AASU into greater heights.

COVID-19 vaccine

It is really a good news that US-based biotechnology giant Moderna has claimed that its COVID-19 vaccine has 94.5 per cent efficacy. Let us all hope that there will be equitable distribution throughout the world. The news is sweeter for India as this vaccine has a shelf life of up to 6 months at minus 4 degree fahrenheit and could be stored at temperatures between 36 to 48 degree fahrenheit for 30 days. This vaccine developed by Moderna could be used by countries (including India) which do not have the required freezer storing facilities.
