Dynasty rule

Titabor constituency fell vacant after the demise of Torun Gogoi, three-time Chief Minister of Assam. Torun Gogoi had been representing Titabor constituency for the last so many terms, building a fortress of kind for the Congress. There are also many grassroots-level people who are working relentlessly to keep the Congress flag flying in the constituency and naturally these people are natural heir to the Congress ticket from that constituency. APCC president Ripun Bora, in the meantime, in a press conference stated that the decision for selection of candidate for the Titabor constituency in the next Assembly elections has been left to the family of Torun Gogoi. It is yet another example of dynasty rule politics by the Congress. It is very unlikely that the Congress leadership would ever come out of dynastic system in foreseeable future.
