Prosecution in Pakistan

The recent brutal lynching of five Hindu people in Pakistan whose throats were slit open should send shivers down the spine. Almost regularly we are getting news of atrocities on minority Hindu people in Pakistan but our anti-CAA agitators are maintaining a stoic silence. The atrocities upon the Hindu population in Pakistan have compelled them to flee their country and seek refuge or asylum in India, the only place which is safe for them. There is a difference between intruder and refugee which our so called secularists refuse to acknowledge. The secular gangs comprising of Congress, leftists, TMC turn their back when such news comes but these same people hit the streets with candle lights and placards if such unfortunate incidents happens to people of a particular religion. The history tells us that Hindus have always been at the receiving end.

Don't jump the gun

Team India continued its success story from down under by trouncing strong English side in the recent test series at home. The reason for the success is presence of strong bench strength. In the Australian tour many of the first choice players got injured but the replacements or the substitutes were equally effective. The new wonder boy Rishabh Pant prior to Aussie tour was the most criticized player in the team. Many pundits were of opinion that the southpaw wicket keeper should be immediately dropped from the team and urged the selectors to look after a new face as legend MS Dhoni's replacement. In both the series Rishabh Pant silenced his critics by his bat and glove work behind the stumps. He served a message to those critics not to jump the gun.

Indian toys

The India Toy Fair inaugurated by PM Modi is an attempt to make the country 'Aatmanirbhar'. We import toys from other countries, especially China, in bulk. Chinese toys are not eco-friendly and may be harmful for our children as dangerous chemicals are used in making them. Indian toys are eco-friendly, cheap and durable. It will help generate employment and save money as well. New innovations should be launched as soon as possible to achieve the $ 5 trillion dollar economy target.

Delay in conducting APSC examination

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to throw light on the issue of irregularities in conducting the State-level Civil Service Examination by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC). Eligible people who aspire to become civil servants and serve their State wait for their opportunity to sit in the Combined Competitive Examination conducted by the APSC. Irregularities and delays are often seen in conducting the particular examination and this affects the aspirants as well as the whole system of recruitment. As the examination is conducted in three phases it requires 9 to 10 months of time in declaring the final results, thus we expect a stricter and fixed schedule for its conduct. I request the concerned authority to look into this matter and act accordingly to avoid unnecessary lapse of time.

Lack of bus stops

Lack of bus stops near Gauhati University makes the people stand under blistering sun and rain while waiting for buses. Being a student of Gauhati University I have been facing this problem. So more bus stops in the area will help people of different age groups.

Blocked drains

The drains of the city have not been cleaned since ages, which are leading to flash floods every year creating problem for the common people in the city. There is always a delay in cleaning the big and medium size drains of the city.

With more and more encroachment and dumping of garbage, the capacity of the water bodies to hold rainwater has reduced drastically.

Cleaning of drains is possible only through the engagement of the GMC workers, but the cooperation has a limited work force, making it a more difficult task. Blocked drains are the major cause of flash floods in the city every year. However, the GMC has again assured to clean the drains before monsoon this year.

Bad days for Ajit Bhuyan

Ajit Bhuyan's party Asom Gana Morcha which is fighting the forthcoming elections in alliance with the Congress and the AIUDF has received cold shoulders as far as getting constituencies from the alliance. In the initial period, Ajit Kumar Bhuyan, openly said that they would get around 8-10 seats to contest but had to be content with just a single seat. In Batadrava constituency he tried to project Lachit Bordoloi but in the end the Congress declared a popular figure of that area as a candidate. Similarly in Bokakhat, Ajit Kumar Bhuyan wanted that constituency but again the Congress has nominated a strong candidate. Actually, Ajit Kumar Bhuyan is an opportunistic leader who after being elected to the Rajya Sabha for six years is caring less for his party men.

The Congress which is facing lot of dissidence is due to its alliance with some insignificant parties like Asom Gana Morcha, CPI, CPI (M), etc. It is certain that grassroots workers would protest if seats are given to some insignificant parties who have no base in the State.
