Unemployment in Assam

The future of thousands of youths of Assam is heading towards uncertainty. It is observed that local youths are being deprived of jobs in government schools, while those who are not conversant with the local language have succeeded in obtaining jobs in such schools.

Recently, a report in electronic media highlighted that teachers who are not at all conversant with the local language have been posted in Majuli. Another report highlighted that a Nepali lady from Darjeeling has been posted in a school and the students were surprised to find that the teacher was acquainted only with English and Nepali language.

There are many other instances where students have to suffer due to communication gap with their teachers. Again, reports in print media have highlighted that local candidates are always deprived of their due share in getting appointment in Indian Railways. The reports further suggested that as many as 93 posts have been filled by candidates from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The only representative from Assam in the Union Cabinet, holding the portfolio of Minister of State for Railways, remains a mute spectator. He owes an explation to the people of Assam for his apathy.
