Bold and clear

As Pakistan is trying to trigger a controversy by declaring to organize Kashmir Premium League, BCCI has taken a bold and clear decision in this regard with those Indian players willing to participate in the tournament. BCCI has declared that those players (including foreign players) active or retired will be banned from all cricketing activities in the country if they associate themselves with Kashmir Premium League. With this stance, BCCI has proved that nation comes first. Now it will be interesting to see how our 'Super Secularists' forces within the country react to BCCI's stance. Will they stand with the nation or with a particular religion? Generally, for that gang nation always comes second behind a particular religion.

Silver lining

The Mizo aggression in Cachar has caught the Assam government on the wrong foot. Six of our brave policemen lost their lives apart from the massive loss of property of people living on the Assam-Mizoram border. With time, many startling facts about Mizoram police have started emerging which needs to be investigated by the Central government. The only silver lining of this entire issue is the total unity among all the political parties, both ruling and Opposition. Hopefully, this political unity among all the political parties is not short-lived as Assam has similar border disagreement with Nagaland and Meghalaya. We are also watching the roles of NESO and NEDA under Samujjal Bhattacharjee and CM Himanta Biswa Sarma who head these two bodies.

The same type of solidarity should also be shown by our national political parties like Samajwadi Party, Congress, Leftists and Trinamool Congress, AAP in dealing with our hostile neighbours like Pakistan and China as their dubious appeasement policy towards a particular religious community even at the cost of nation's integrity and security.

Save Simaluguri Than

Simaluguri Than Siva Mandir is a widely known devoted place with long years of history with incredible scenic beauty by the bank of the river Brahmaputra. During Sivaratri, devotees from different parts of the State visit the Than. It is situated near Bihaguri at Tinkhoria and Jaroni Chapori under Borsola LAC which is 12 km away from Tezpur town. I visited this place last year. It is surrounded by incredible natural beauty with great potentiality for tourism. But the erosion of the mighty Brahmaputra is bringing an alert to this beautiful Than also to the people of the sapori area which is a source of income for many farmers. So, I urge the government and also the authority concerned to take immediate steps to save Than and the villagers from the ongoing erosion.

Nice gesture

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited the entire Olympic contingent as guests for the coming Independence Day programme at the Red Fort. I, through your esteemed daily, offer my gratitude to PM Modi for his gesture. We all have noticed earning a single win in the Olympics is extremely difficult and finishing on the podium wearing the medals is a dream of every sportsperson. In Olympics, nothing comes in the platter. One has to earn it by sheer grit, stamina, nerves and skills. These Olympics have shown how multi-world champions in any discipline have faded under the bulk of pressure. Our performance could have been better, but still we have to salute all the sportspersons who gave their heart out in Tokyo. These stars will inspire our next generation to take up sports and the dream of securing medals in the next greatest show on the earth to be held in Paris 2024 and USA 2028. Instead of criticizing the athletes, let us first give them honour on August 15 and later on can go for introspection."Dhiman Senchowa, "North Lakhimpur.

Matter of shame

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is hurt at the behaviour of Opposition MPs taking part in the Monsoon Session of the Parliament. He was hurt at the cheap attitude of members throwing papers at the chair and warned such steps will receive a stern action on those repeatedly involved in such incidents and unruly behaviour. The video coverage is the clear picture of the unruly attitude and it is a shame on national party members instead of participating actively in the discussion.
