Sorrows of Kashmiri Pandits

The targeted killing of Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu and Kashmir is condemnable. Reports indicate that 14 Kashmiri Pandits and others from the minority community have been killed in J&K in targeted terrorist attacks since August, 2019. This is really horrifying. This needs to be stopped urgently. The Kashmiri Pandits are suffering a lot and a large number left J&K in the exodus of the 1990s. Although the government has taken several remarkable measures, but their sufferings and sorrows still exist. Our Constitution provides the right to protection of life and personal liberty and also freedom to reside and settle in any part of the territory of India. But unfortunately, they cannot avail their rights and freedom. They face extreme threat to their lives. The Government, civil society and political parties must join hands and take concrete steps for Kashmiri Pandits.

TV channels

The number of TV channels is increasing day by day in Assam. This is good news for the Assamese language and culture. However, everyone has no time and opportunity to watch the programmes on TV channels. As a result, the audience is deprived of watching good programmes. Through this letter, I would like to make a request to the authorities concerned that TV channels can announce their programmes through their social media pages. This will benefit the audience.

Water supply woes

Through the columns of your prestigious newspaper, I would like to state about the urgent need to save water. I am a resident of Pension Para Road, Chandmari and would like to draw your attention towards problems of water supply and the importance of water because people are disrespecting water by wasting it. Recently, we had faced a lot of problems due to stoppage of water supply for a month in our neighbourhood. We had to struggle and buy water daily. It caused us a lot of problems. On this planet, water is an essential component. Without water we cannot live. Since there is an abundance of water supply in our area and people are wasting a lot of it, one should appreciate nature and as responsible citizens, it is our obligation to preserve it. So, it is very important and high time to understand that we should not waste water at any cost. Even a small contribution will have a significant impact. By not letting the water flow continuously while bathing, brushing our teeth or cleaning our faces, we can save water.
