Letters to the Editor: Why burn crackers?

When firecrackers were imploded on the Indian soil -- post the loss of India to Pakistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup being played in UAE and Oman, some members of the so-called 'Liberal Gang' immediately swung into action giving logic that they burst the crackers to celebrate spirit of cricket. But the moot posers are: How is it a celebration of the cricket spirit or the spirit of cricket? These people never celebrated when Neeraj Chopra won the Olympic gold medal; nor they were heard lauding the spirit of Olympic games. We never witnessed that 'cricket spirit' when India loses to other nations in cricket.

Clashes were also seen in some places between the Indian supporters and those who were celebrating the "spirit of cricket". In the name of celebrations, some among them even raised Azadi and anti-India slogans. The sad part of the story is that those people shouting anti-India and Azadi slogans were thriving on schemes and scholarships of government of India.

Now, if strict actions are taken against these anti-nationals, many members of the Left-motivated 'Liberal Gang' led by the Congress, CPI, CPM, Samajwadi Party, AIMIM, RJD, TMC, will come out to the streets. Then tghey will raise concerns about alleged violations of human rights. They would not shy away to declare the operation as 'Minority bashing'.

Coming to Team India's decision to kneel down with the pledge 'Black Lives Matter" along with the Pakistani team prior to start of the match, it was utterly ridiculous. Why did not the Virat-Kohli brigade raise the issue of regular killings of civilians and military men in Jammu & Kashmir by Pakistan-sponsored millitants and also showed solidarity with the Hindus who were subjected to enormous atrocities in the Islamic State of Bangladesh. It is not only 'Black Lives'. It must be 'All Lives Matter!'
