The coronavirus will stay with us for some time. The world needs to adapt to living with the virus as a successful vaccine could take around 12 months to be invented. Lack of hygiene, high density of population and mushrooming of slums need to be addressed to, though it is late. We are spending only a small fraction of the GDP on healthcare. This needs to be stepped up and the woeful doctor-patient ratio has to be addressed to. Elderly people have borne the brunt of the pandemic. Though the lockdown is gradually relaxed, the government should learn from countries such as Turkey and impose restrictions on the movement of the elderly.
