Make the Earth green

Every year June 5 is celebrated as the World Environment Day. This year this specific day is celebrated with the theme 'Celebrate Biodiversity'. It is said that the Amazon rainforest produces 20 per cent of the world's oxygen. That means forest is the largest producer of oxygen. It also maintains the amount of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. It needs no mention that forest is shelter for both biotic and abiotic components, besides being source of Ayurvedic medicine. The uppermost leaves of trees in the rainforest are so thick that when it rains, it takes about 10 minutes for the water to reach the ground! That way, it controls flood and soil erosion. We have seen that your esteemed daily plays a crucial role to save the 'Amazon of the East' (Dehing Patkai). On this special day through your esteemed daily, I am appealing to all to save the Earth by planting more and more trees and Saying No to deforestation. We can make the Earth Green!
