Mismagement at Cotton University

University on August 1 last which was the first day for the new batches of higher secondary and degree first year students. I was present at the campus that morning as it was my daughter’s first day at the university. There were around 5,000 people comprising of students and guardians in the main building. But there were no staff members to guide the new students, who are completely unfamiliar with the university campus. Neither there was any notice hanged on the notice board. All the new students had to roam around the campus in search of their class rooms. Most of them asked each other where to go and what was the system. Unfortutely, the authority neither gave any news paper notification nor hang any notice board in the campus in this regard. A guardian with his daughter came a long way from Tripura to this big university (as he said to me) but was displeased at this state of affair. At the time of his daughter’s admission he was told by a member of the admission board that a meeting would be held at K.B.R hall on the first day around 10 am but the said hall was found closed at that time. When he contacted to a faculty member about this, the faculty member   informed him that there was lack of communication with the official staff of Vice-Chancellor and the faculty members.  He said that he was unwilling to interfere on that matter. However, he informed that till last year, there was held an initiation programme at K.B.R Hall on the first day and that was addressed by the principal of the college (Cotton College). Filly at around 11-30 am, all students were dispersed and went in search of their respective departments guided by their guardians.  My pertinent question is - will this new university, function as a mere university of poor proficiency? I appeal to the State Education Minister to look into the affairs of the university.
