One nation, one theory

The Northeast region is an integral part of India and as such the laws governing the entire country is also applicable to us. I have a simple question to ask our elected representatives. If 1951 is the cut-off date for all issues related to Indians, then why is the cut-off date different for us? Majority of the problems like alienation from the mainstream etc can be put to rest by one single stroke of a pen: One nation, one theory. Also, why do we need to redefine ourselves as Assamese and prove it since times immortal? Natives from other States do not have to prove themselves every time. The sooner it is done the better for us.
