Power of social media

Social Media has gradually become an indispensable and important part of our daily lives. Especially, the younger generations of society are more inclined towards social media because of its glamour and mastery in terms of connecting people from one corner of the world to the other. The invention of social media has turned the entire world into a global village in which people can connect to other people within a minute. Although, it is considered as 'evil' by some people, it has not lost its charm among the majority of people. The invention of social media can very well be based on the maxim 'Necessity is the mother of invention'. Social media has provided people with something that people wanted the most; to connect to the entire world. Various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter have brought people more closer than ever. We can talk to our near and dear ones even if we live in two different parts of the world. Thus, we feel connected with the entire world because of these social media platforms.

Social media has also been used as a significant platform for digital education. As the present world is going through a difficult phase due to the emergence of an unprecedented contagious epidemic (COVID-19), Social media platforms have served the necessity of students to a great extent. Social media has substituted the physical education system thereby making education easier for the students in such a tough time. From a couple of months, we have witnessed that various social media platforms have been used to begin a chain through which digital education is being encouraged. In this regard, the Ministry of HRD has also initiated many online courses to educate the students through online mode. In this COVID-19 affected world, social media is the only way through which we can continue our studies. Thus, the significance of social media can not be ignored in this crucial time.

Presently in Assam, more than 28 districts have been submerged under water due to the rise in water level of the major rivers.. The rage of the rivers has led to the deaths of many people in the past couple of days. The flood has made people bankrupt and hungry. Also in this field, social media has proved to be a pivotal platform in helping the poor and affected people. Through various social media platforms, people are donating money to help the flood affected people who are in a miserable condition. One such example is the well known you tuber Dimpu Barua who collected Rs 43,000 within an hour through his you tube channel and distributed the money among the flood victims. Many other social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram are also being used to donate money. Hence, social media has proved to be an important tool for the modern society and its necessity cannot be ignored in this modern world.
