State government on mob lynching

It hardly needs a mention that a spate of mob lynching occurring in different parts of the State in recent times has set its citizenry musing over how to put a curb on its recurrence in the days to come at the earliest. At the moment, almost all opine in one voice that only a stringent law ensuring befitting pecuniary measures to the perpetrators of such heinous crimes can be fruitful in this regard. The intellectuals and NGOs, deeming it a bounden duty, also need to focus on the issue and come up with some effective measures. It's worth mentioning here that an NGO called Save Guwahati Build Guwahati (SGBG) has been founded to be vocal in the matter. In July, 2017, the Supreme Court gave a slew of directions to the State governments in order to prevent and deal with such offences, but quite regrettably our government has not been able to do anything noticeable. As such, the government seems to be quite indifferent to this pressing issue that does trigger unpleasant and turbulent ambience in the society.
