Step motherly treatment to L.C.V.Sc

The recent derecognition of Lakhimpur College of Veteriry Science (L.C.VSc) by the Veteriry Council of India due to shortage of teachers has caused much apprehension among the students of this College and their parents resulting in an outcry among the Public. In response to this, the Assam Agril University (AAU) Authority in Consultation with the Teachers’ Association (AAUTA,VF) has made an interim arrangement and transferred eleven Senior teachers from the College of Veteriry Science (C.V.Sc), Khapara by a notification where it was clearly mentioned that these teachers would go back to Khapara after 3-4 months. But it is surprising to note that in the same notification the mes of three Assistant Professors, who were origilly posted at LC.V.Sc and were later attached to C.V.Sc, Khapara, have appeared. This indicates that these Assistant Professors also would go back to Khapara at the expiry of the term of 3-4 months. But the Public of Lakhimpur and also the AAUTA (VF) have demanded the recall of these teachers to L.C.V.Sc. It is worth mentioning that a few Assistant Professors rendering sincere service at LC.V.Sc, who have become eligible for undergoing Ph.D. programme in-Service are being deprived from their legitimate career requirement due to shortage of teachers. Their Period of deprivation will certainly be longer if the above mentioned three Assistant Professors go back to Khapara along with the Senior teachers. This amply demonstrates the step motherly treatment meted out to the fellow teachers in the same cadre in L.C.V.Sc. This discrimition in favouring certain members of the teaching community is an unfortute act on the part of the recommending authority at Khapara.

We, therefore, strongly urge upon the MU authority to take timely measure to retain these three Assistant Professors at LC.V.Sc and thereby facilitate in study leave of the deserving candidates of this College.
