Timely editorial

Once again your timely editorial on 11th May has caught my attention. It is truly a disturbing news that during this period of lockdown there has been sprut in criminal activities across the state. Even the world heritage site Kaziranga National Park is not spared as a rhino was poached taking the advantage of the lockdown. This is the first case of poaching in this current year and the Forest department has to make sure that this is the last one. Lockdown or no lockdown all criminal activities including poaching should be checked, come what may. Meanwhile, leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia has urged the Forest Department, Government of Assam to stop the eviction drive in the Amchang Reserve. Does he want the illegal settlers to have a free run riding on the COVID-19 pandemic?
