Why college principals to collect cheques?

An unprecedented event took place in Guwahati recently. And this is called Paribartan! The Chief Minister distributed cheques to the principals of colleges, in lieu of free admission given to ‘poor’ students in their respective colleges. Why this fun-fair? Was it at all necessary? Instead, the Chief Minister and others could have used their resources for doing more important work. How much money and other resources were spent in the whole affair? People know whose brainchild was this! It was bizarre indeed. the cheques could have been sent through post. It was official. Please remember that you can’t fool all the people all the time. Such showing-off in public glare does not anyway help improve the quality of education in the State. In fact, such things show the government in poor light.
